Are Heaven and Hell Real Places After Death? Or figurative language about something else?
Fundamental Christianity teaches that the whole bible is true and must be taken literally for the most part. It teaches that good people go to heaven when they die; bad people go to hell. According to most of them, those who go to heaven are the ones who adhere to the rules and regulations of their particular interpretation of the Bible. There are 6 branches of Christianity and over 200 denominations in the United States alone, thousands more world-wide, with many differing views on who’s going to hell and who isn’t.
But there’s another much more believable, comforting interpretation on this subject that I’ll share shortly and you can make up your own mind. Please read this post, leave your comments, and share it. There’s never been such a great opportunity to talk to others and gain new insight about topics like this, as we have on Facebook.
Like many of you, I spent much of my life afraid of dying and going to hell because of what my religion taught. But I began to have serious doubts as I matured. I had little support as I walked away from it to look for sensible answers to my many questions about fundamental Christianity. After reading some 60 books on the subject and experiencing many out-of-the-ordinary phenomena, like a visit from my father’s ghost, I was able to overcome my fear of dying and put all my energies into living a happy, peaceful, productive life.
In my research I found a number of non-fundamental religious groups (those who see much of the Bible as figurative language meant to teach lessons, not to be taken literally). But I still had a hard time believing what they were saying…that heaven and hell are figurative words for conditions on earth that depend on whether or not people cultivate their relationship with our Creator and follow the laws of the universe. It was the appearance of my father’s ghost that finally convinced me there is no such place called hell; that all of us return to an unconditionally loving creator when we die. Here’s a link to the excerpt regarding my father’s ghost in my book “TO HEAVEN THROUGH HELL, A Book About Challenging and Changing Destructive Religious Beliefs”.
